A Versatile EDC Knife for Outdoor Activities and Everyday Tasks
The Helle Nordlys is a general-purpose knife designed for outdoor use, closely related to the larger Helle Nord knife. This new addition, meticulously developed by Norwegians over time, is essentially a bushcraft knife but smaller and more refined than typical representatives of the category. The lightweight Nordlys easily accompanies you on your adventures and, like a classic EDC knife, is suited for a wide range of tasks.
Like the Nord, the Nordlys also features a drop point blade and a Scandinavian grind, typical of Nordic knives. The blade is made of Alleima 14C28N steel, offering a well-balanced set of properties for an outdoor knife. It effectively resists corrosion while providing an excellent combination of hardness and tought. In a classic style, the handle is made of beautiful Northern curly birch, and the sheath is crafted from durable leather.
In Norwegian, "Nordlys" means the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), so the northern theme is strongly reflected in the knife's name.
The Helle Nordlys performs equally well in the challenging conditions of the wilderness as it does on lighter camping trips. It can easily be attached to a belt without hindering other activities when carried. Two brothers, Steinar and Sigmund Helle started knife production in the old forge at their farm in 1932. The first set of knives was sold on a long trip over the mountains on a bicycle!
