Martti Malinen is a man to whom the work of a blacksmith is both a profession and a hobby. A renowned Finnish knife maker, Malinen has been forging iron since 1988. In the year 2005 Malinen, having also worked as a teacher, moved to a naturally beautiful and inspiring village and started working full time as a blacksmith. As the village blacksmith, Malinen manufactures and sells puukko knives, axes, kitchen knives and various kinds of custom-made forging crafts.
Malinen is influenced by blacksmith traditions and old forging culture as a knife maker. These are the kinds of teachings that Malinen also wants to pass on. Everyone is welcome to his forge, Hanhiniitty Paja, to learn new things and indulge in different kinds of experiences. Malinen implements various kinds of forging shows and courses in both Finnish and English.
