Juha Perttula Whittling Puukko knife with guard
Description
This puukko is suitable for hunting, fishing, bushcraft, and whittling, but it is at its best at whittling. The blade is made of 80CrV2 steel which is pretty similar to basic carbon steel. Small amounts of Cr and V are added to make the heat treatment process easier. The outstanding feature of the blade is the double hardening. At first the blade is hardened and spring tempered and after that the cutting edge is rehardened. The cutting edge attains 63 HRC and the spine 50 HRC. Therefore, the edge cuts wildly and the blade won't brake.
The handle is made of Curly Birch which is oiled with boiled linseed oil.
The sheath is made of 3 mm thick vegetable tanned leather.
