Eero Kovanen is a designer and knife blacksmith master from Finland. In addition to making puukko knives, his passions include traditional Finnish handcraft. He also teaches the ways of working on birch bark.
His principle is crafting a good puukko knife with not only high-quality materials and good proportions, but also a blade fit for its purpose. Kovanen wants the blade and the handle to form a line that is supported by the sheath with its decorations that follows the same pattern.
Kovanen favors Finnish wood and carbon steel and is also familiar with the secrets of Damascus steel blades. His gorgeous creations are magnets for the eye in a showcase and you can be fairly sure that you will not encounter one like a knife by him too soon. Naturally, puukko knives by Kovanen are also highly usable; in daily tasks at home or outdoors, and in many kinds of hobbies that downright require a good knife or a puukko knife.
Kovanen works on his puukko knives and tools in Masku, Southwest Finland.
